Unexpected. When we watch films we have an idea (sometimes) going in if it's something we will enjoy or not. You'd be surprised, how many of those sometimes I was wrong. This is one of those sometimes. I didn't expect to enjoy this film as much as I did. Considering the mixed reviews you'll see why.
Now, going forward I must admit I wasn't that big of a fan of Devil's Rejects. I have a handful of dear friends that are die hard fans of this now trilogy.
3 From Hell brought back some familiar faces. I wondered how Zombie would be able to make a third one. He did and here we are. Sid Haig's role was intended to be larger than it was but considering his health it was adjusted. I'll tell you what all things considered he delivered a performance that still holds. [RIP Sid Haig]
That now leaves the other two members of the Firefly family. If you tune in you'll see how their stories pan out.
This film had humor that fits this genre. I was laughing at some parts of the film. I think especially when Baby tells one of the characters that the predicament of another was doomed from the start. If you know anything about these 3 it's that. It's something so obvious that you know what to expect. In some ways a lot of the story I expected some of the outcomes and if you have seen any of the other films you'll see why.
3 From Hell has the a very gritty grindhouse feel to it. It has a solid soundtrack that helps transition each scene. It has enough gruesome segments to fit this families descent. On the subject of descent, you'll see Baby's steadily solid performance into madness as if she wasn't already. Otis still is solid in what is expected of him.
I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did.
