A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting Review

A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting (2020)

Directed By: Rachel Talalay

When you're a teenager very little seems to matter. What seems to matter is being popular, catching up on the latest gossip, your friends, getting your crush to notice you're alive, and still trying to look and stay cool. The last thing on that list is the possibility of real responsibility. At least for some teens and not all. The prospective of babysitting your mom's bosses brat seems less interesting that taking a selfie at the big Halloween social event of the year! Everyone who is anyone is going to be there! Responsibility takes the seat tonight. How unfortunate? Right, wrong! While in her care he is mysteriously nabbed by MONSTERS! What's a teen to do?! Luckily it turns out that someone should hear her distress call. Will Kelly (the babysitter) save the kid under her care from the things she feared as a child that go bump in the night?

I went into this film not knowing what to expect. I absolutely loved this one! It's a fun film to watch for the whole family. At first, I was starting to lose some interest because YA targeted films really don't hit the mark for me lol. I viewed this from the perspective that it does have a somewhat of an intended audience. To enjoy the film for what it is and I did. There's nightmarish sequences parents and fans of horror can enjoy. You like cutesy creepy horror there's something for you! There's themes of friendship, and family. There's a lesson to be learned but to avoid spoilers I'll have to leave it at that. I loved the underdog standpoint of this film. If you love horror elements wrapped in a family friendly film; about a teen finding a little more about the world around her. All the while discovering what really matters then this is for you. It was a fun story. I definitely recommend. Check it out, before the boogeyman gets you!
