Cemetery Man [1994] Dellamorte Dellamore
Directed by: Michele Soavi
As a writer and especially a reviewer I seldom find myself at a loss for words to write. Given this, I gave myself plenty of time to reflect on this film. It's a work of art that has fallen down the cracks and seldom discussed. I only know of the film through my bestie. It's a symbolic masterpiece. It's thought provoking, and humorous. It's innocent yet mad. It's everything and anything. It's about love and it's about hope. It's in the purest sense a realm all of it's own.
I love the play on duality between Francesco and Gnaghi. I loved the symbolism that not everything is what it seems. I love the fragility it carried and how the very fabric of the film dwelled on a plane of its own. It's memorable and romantic. Gnaghi is soft spoken but speaks so profoundly on the little words he speaks. Francesco is a charismatic caretaker that draws the thread of this film in a full circle. You also have to admire the humor tones that trickle in through it. It's delightfully intriguing and alluring in its own right. I highly recommend this film. 🖤
