Child's Play (2019) Review

Child's Play [2019]

Directed by: Lars Klevberg

The Buddi doll was designed as a true companion. It assists in your aid and is friendly all the same. At least, that's how they were intended to be programmed. A disgruntled employee has had his fill and sends out one Buddi with an altered code thus setting up our story.

Now, this Buddi is different than the others he thinks for himself. In the hands of a couple of kid's he experiences their joy of horror films. Thus planting a seed in his code for his bloodlust terror. That's where this story really comes alive. Your Buddi, this Buddi is truly unlike any other. Like most friends he hates to see you in any pain and therefore anything that brings you pain meets a peculiar demise at least in Chucky's eye. In the end his devotion borders possession and well if he can't have you then no one will. Chucky wraps his gift like I'll wrap up my synopsis here with a shiny yellow bow.

Interesting. Funny but interesting. I didn't hate it but I felt something was missing. I don't know what but it felt like something was missing. It had humor, the Buddi doll didn't creep me out, good writing, and placing Hamill behind the voice of the doll was cool in my eyes. I can't feel there just was something missing to make me love it entirely. Some of the humor felt forced. The concept of a doll with poor coding I actually enjoyed over the original idea. It made more sense, in my opinion. It was interesting. If you never saw Child's Play you might enjoy it more than I did. It wasn't terrible.
