This is my second year attending Days of the Dead in Chicago. I was looking forward to this convention for weeks. I was pleasantly surprised at the convention this year! There were more people in cosplays!! I wanted to cosplay this event but unfortunately due to health reasons I was unable to. Perhaps, next year?!
This year brought a different assortment of vendors than the previous year. I saw more vendors for jewelry than the previous year. I saw more clothing vendors which always is a plus for me since it feels rather difficult to find horror tees in most stores. I didn't see many vendors that had DVDs or VHS's for sale. I saw a handful of artists if memory serves right. All in all, I was content with the variety of vendors this year.
Lastly, but certainly not least are the guests. This year, I was most excited to meet Edward Furlong and Skeet Ulrich. I remember how excited I felt when I walked up to Edward Furlong's table. This of course, was my third try. The previous times his line was pretty long. I was so overwhelmed with joy. I have admired him for many many years now. His performance in American History X was above one of my favorites. I also loved him in Detroit Rock City. Overall, I really was looking forward to meeting him. He was very kind and I was overcome with happiness to finally meet him. I was pretty shy. lol I got a selfie photo op with him as well as an autograph. I got to talk with him briefly but it was something I will always remember. I've had a pretty rough end to this year. This was above one of the highlights I have this year.
The day of the event we must have circled the convention space a few times but I did not see Skeet Ulrich's table. I then approached one of the volunteers and found out he cancelled on Thursday. I was bummed! I was looking forward to meeting him and getting an autograph for my sister.
Final thoughts: Overall, I really enjoyed myself this year. I do look forward to next year! Check it out :)
