Eye in the Labyrinth [1972] L'occhio nel labirinto
Directed by: Mario Caiano
Starring: Rosemary Dexter, Sybil Danning, Alida Valli, Adolfo Celi, and Horst Frank
A woman's hinted lover vanishes without a trace. In the beginning, we see her man being chased by a mysterious person who ends up taking his life in a labyrinth. What begins now after this is by far the most bizarre plot. The woman (Julie) begins her search for her lost hinted lover (Lucas). Her quest leads her to a seaside villa. In the villa the true story slowly and I mean s--l---o--wl--y begins to unfold. She is lead to a small swinger hangout where her presence is obviously not welcomed. It looks like the people staying there might know a thing or two about Lucas but don't want to give word. It isn't until the tail end of the story we figure out what actually happened. As Frank begins to dish out the details on what really transpired she is left slowly coming to realize and accept the outcome. That's one thing I don't want to give out info on, the who is responsible part. At the end the killer takes one more life.
My thoughts: This film was bizarre. I mean really bizarre for me. I liked the idea of the ending but it should have been somewhat shorter. Considering the time period, there is a few moments of nudity and seduction. I felt like the direction began to focus more on the "eccentric group" of people and slowly started to lose speed for me. It had an interesting ending, I'll give it that. A lot of placed nudity didn't really fit with the story line. I think for me, a one time watch is enough and I will most likely forget about this later on.
Final Score: 5.5/10
