Near Dark (1987)
Directed by: Kathryn Bigelow
The night belongs to those free at heart. They roam the land from car to car leaving a trail of dust at your wake. The world is theirs and theirs for the taking. Fueled with wanderlust taking them from place to place and claiming what they want.
It all began with Mae. A simple apparently naïve girl that caught their interest. After much pressure things happened and the next thing you know you're a slave to the night. You're put to the test by the crew of outlaws to prove your worth. The life you once had slowly begins to be but a memory. That all changes when your sister falls into the path of yours. The youngest outlaw Homer feels lonely and his eyes turn to your sister for companionship. Will she join you as a spirit of the night or will the night claim it's next victim you? Check this one out and find out!
A brilliant story with an interesting twist that I can't reveal to avoid further spoilers. I thought the premise was interesting. The cinematography was amazing. The casting is memorable. I can see how this film not only influenced other work but musicians as well. It's a great film and I'm happy I finally got the chance to see it. It was recommended to me by my bestie Eva. I know how much she loved it and I can understand why. It had a well placed soundtrack, brilliant use of lighting, solid writing, and overall a memorable film. The final showdown scene between Caleb and Severen was unbelievable and impressive!!
