Poltergeist 3 Review

Updated: Jul 30, 2024

Poltergeist 3 [1988] Directed by: Gary Sherman Starring: Heather O'Rourke, Tom Skerritt, Nancy Allen, Zelda Rubinstein, Lara Flynn Boyle, Kipley Wentz, and Nathan Davis Streamed on: Amazon Prime

So, in the last film of the Poltergeist series we follow Carol Anne who now has been sent to live with her aunt in Chicago. Hoping to put the past behind her and start new. Of course, that's not the case. The past has a way of finding you. So it finds Carol Anne. In the final installment will Carol Anne finally break free from the Reverend or will she be claimed as fodder for the Other Side?

I honestly wasn't too impressed with this one. The other two films were stronger but that doesn't mean this one was terrible. You see more screen time of Carol Anne obviously, and there are more jump scares than the earlier two. The special effects were crazy in this one and I enjoyed it for that. It's also sad because Heather passed shortly after. It had it's moments but it to me, didn't compare to the other films. A lot of new characters were not memorable. Like Dr. Seaton, he was just boring. Overall an interesting finale to this trilogy.

7/10 bonus for effects
