Scanners [1981]
Directed by: David Cronenberg
Something suspicious lingers in this story? Perhaps, there is more to it than meets the eye. Who is Cameron Vale? Why are ConSec so dead on "helping" him? 🤔
There it sat in my queue for day's. However, the clock was ticking as Hbomax would send it on its way by July 1st. I thought of seeing it before but I wasn't quite ready. Then the time began ticking and I knew it was now or never.
Moments in, I knew what would be happening next since I have used the gif often. I was blown away by the lead up and aftermath of the mindblowing effects! Yes, pun intended. 🤯 That was just the start. After the film continued I found myself deeply intrigued to what would happen next. There was mystery, sci fi, and horror! The effects were spectacular and for me impressive! I loved the ending. While looking up the credits I found out this has two films that follow in the series. Which I might at some point visit.
I loved the mystery and the suspense! I loved the story. I sat on the review because I wasn't sure what to score it. The effects alone in my opinion deserve a higher score. In a nutshell I felt was more accurate to my takeaway on the film.
8.9/10
