Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School [1988] Directed by: Charles August Nichols, Ray Patterson Program creators: Benjamin Ross and Barry Langford
Miss Grimwood employs Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy Doo to help her students finally win against the neighboring Calloway Cadets in their latest volleyball match. However, upon arrival Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy Doo find that the students really are ghouls! Not just any ghouls but the daughters of some of Hollywood's famous monsters! Can the new teachers set their fears aside and help their students finally bring a trophy home to their...mummy! 😆😂 (pun intended) The story doesn't quite end there though. It looks like there's another revolting villain with peering eyes set on the school. It looks like they have plans of their own to achieve the title of most feared ghoul! Will the gang stop them or what fiasco awaits the ghouls? Tune in to this horror classic to find out!
Before there was a Monster High there was Miss Grimwood's Ghoul School. I obviously remember the yearly reruns of this film growing up. I loved the humor, the underdog spirits the ghouls had, and overall, the spooky Hanna Barbera aesthetic. I loved the story and although it's obviously been done this one manages to still hold the draw throughout these years. Halloween special had it all! It had horror elements, puns, and Scooby Doo. If you love a little creepy cute in your horror, memorable characters, vintage horror cartoon aesthetic, Scooby Doo, and monsters give this one a shot!
