The Blood Splattered Bride (1972) Review

The Blood Splattered Bride (1972) Also known as La Novia Ensangrentada and The Bloody Bride Based on the novel 'Carmilla' Directed by: Vicente Aranda Streamed on: Amazon Prime A young bride is haunted on the eve of her honeymoon by a nightmare of her being raped by a strange man hiding away in her closet. Scared she asks her husband if they can leave. They leave and arrive at a castle. A castle her husband knows well. Throughout the first half of the film she is being tormented by a strange woman to kill her husband. Later, she finds out she's the spirit of a woman who killed her own husband. Tensions loom in paradise and at the most opportune moment a recognizable women reappears in their story. What reasons is she there for? You'll have to check it out. To say more will be giving spoilers. The only spoiler I'll give is 32 minutes in, there is heavy use of strobe lights.

My thoughts: Strong setting, all elements true to 70s horror, and solid casting. Seductive and full of mystery.

Final Score: 6/10- Morgana
