The Great Train Robbery (1903)
Directed by: Edwin S. Porter
Just as the title implies a train is held up by a group of bandits. Will they be caught?
This is possibly considered the first western ever made. In an artistic and #cinephile perspective from its beginning it is magnetizing. Although, you have to take into account it is a product of its time. I thought it was funny when they threw the person over the train and you can see it's actually a dummy. 🤣 The ending shot made no sense to me because it just came out if the blue. It's pretty short and you can view it free on youtube.
This is also listed as one of the 1001 films you need to watch before you die. I believe it's because this is one of the first westerns. It also is visually beautiful from an artistic perspective. Some stills read haunting. There's some humor to it although I'm sure that wasn't the narrative they sought. I actually liked this one. If you're a fan of westerns and/or silent films check it out. 8/10
