Part 1 of 3 Review Analysis

Joker [2019]

Directed by: Todd Phillips

Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Glen Fleshner

We often hear the phrase "It isn't fair." This phrase hollows itself into the plight of one man, Arthur Fleck. An average man trying to get by fighting all sorts of obstacles. The obstacles come in the form of juvenile delinquents, a forlorn mother, the system routinely failing him, a faltering relationship, back stabbing "friends ", and the bitter cruel reality he bears alone. Each obstacle pulling him closer to his dark buried persona. To those who follow canon; this could be synonymous with the chemical plant waste that perversed the inner haunted dwelling of the Killing Joke.

Arthur holds on to the dependency that one day of happiness is just around the corner. That no matter how bad it gets he will have a reason to smile and to smile because that's what his dear mother taught him. He battles a silent fight one that is a battle some fight, and that is mental illness. He's prescribed 7 different medications. 7 pills that the system gave him to make amends with reality. It burrows into his psyche creating a parallel between reality and another link into his mind. People are constantly judging him, and beating him day in and out for a condition he never asked to have. The innocence he holds he carries in his pocket unfortunately people can't perceive that. Things are about to change for Arthur. "I used to think my life was a tragedy and now I realize it's a comedy."

The Ascent into Laughter

Part 2 of 3 Review Analysis

Joker [2019}

Directed by: Todd Phillips

"It's so hard to just be happy all the time." 🃏Life seems like an abundant tragedy. Arthur Fleck takes his revenge on those who wronged him and he is reborn. Reborn in high fashion doting a vintage crisp burgundy suit, new green hair, and makeup. The Clown Prince of Crime is born! He leaves behind his shell of Arthur Fleck in his barely lit apartment; in an old dilapidated building that was his home, where his loneliness is forever forgotten.

He is now the enigma that haunts and taunts several years of canon. The embodiment of mayhem! He smiles at the chaos that has been born from the ashes of Arthur Fleck in Gotham. Smiling proudly as he has finally become accepted by his minions of pandemonium as they break into the streets. History is written forever this fateful night, that is forever embodied on screen and print. It is Crime Alley, where Thomas and Martha Wayne meet their fate and another prominent character is written; Batman. Batman or Bruce Wayne stands over his beloved parents as the night brings forth the Joker. " There is no punchline." 🃏

This concludes part 2 of my analysis.

Part 3 of 3 Reviews

Joker [2019]

Directed by: Todd Phillips

Wow. This film surpassed my expectations! Joaquin Phoenix brought a new perspective to the DC universe's timeline of Batman. He made this role uniquely his. A origin story that I feel, fits the Clown Prince of crime. I always envisioned him as an instrument of chaos and this film really brought forth that idea. I have to say the scene where he meets Bruce for the first time was intensely stand out. I only have one complaint and that is, that Thomas was painted as the villain. Thomas was a character I loved in canon. The more I read the more I see that father figure Bruce missed for so many years but found it through Alfred in the death of Thomas. It was hard, for me personally to see this new side. I took it as it was, another take on the Batverse.

The writing really challenged your empathy and perception. To me, that was a bold and brilliant move.

Intelligent writing, strong cast, excellent costumes, profound and colorful settings, well placed score, and overall a solid film all around. I loved this!! I loved this new spin on Joker. I still say the Rogue's Gallery has many stories to tell. I hope that Hollywood brings forth more. ❤🃏 I planned originally on making this a two part analysis but I had so much to say. I felt to shorten it, would have cheated my take on the film.
