Vampyr (1932) Also known as: Vampyr – Der Traum des Allan Gray Directed by: Carl Theodor Dreyer Based on: In a Glass Darkly by Sheridan Le Fanu
Much like Allan Gray I was drawn to this film. I would randomly see it pop up and the cover alone intrigued me but I never bought it. Thanks to YouTube, I was able to watch it. It also is in German but had English subtitles.

Allan Gray takes lodge at a small cottage. During the night a man comes into his room and leaves a package that says to not open it until his death. Allan decides to investigate and is lead by shadowy figures to a castle. That's where the story really begins to unravel.
My thoughts: I absolutely enjoyed this atmospheric film! Absolutely intelligible cinematography that read like art, excellent casting that were completed devoted to their roles, intensely alluring settings, cohesive plot, and amazing score. The sets are breathtaking. Two thumbs way up on this one. I will definitely own this! For me the shadow sequence made me jump and it was so subtle but effective.
If you're looking for a solid watch, give this one a whirl over a cuppa. The grainy and alluring cinematography is art. From an artist's perspective it definitely is worth the watch. The coffin scene is 🖤🙌
Final Score: 10/10- Morgana
The film was entirely shot on location. The castle served as lodging. This was the first performance for most of these actors. Could have fooled me!?
