Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman: The True Amazon [2016]

By: Jill Thompson

Appraisal is a double-edged sword. As the recipient you know where you stand and have verification of your potential. As the person giving the praise, you're letting the person know what your opinions are.

Princess Diana was once a naive and young woman. She had the status, the praise, the strength, and love. She still yearned for more...she craved... MORE. It was never enough.

Having everything can spoil the soul of a person. This is the case for Diana, she was vain and arrogant. She had everything but one would not bow to her temperamental presence. She pledged her loyalty to the meek and humble. Diana didn't know of these emotions. She couldn't fathom them. She wanted more so she set out to win her praises. Sadly, it all comes with dire consequences.

An interesting take on Diana. I loved the art and the idea which is often found in volumes of graphic novels and films. "With great power comes great responsibility". Is appraisal really worth fighting for? Is it better to be meek and learn to find that praise within one's self? Loving yourself blossoms heart and reaps more fruit. Princess Diana just wanted to feel wanted. She pays for this a hard lesson and dedicates her life to becoming a woman her friend would have been proud of. She learns to be humble. Great theme and well written. Give it a read!
