Alena (2015) Review

Alena [2015]

Directed by: Daniel di Grado

Language: Swedish

Alena leaves her life behind and begins a fresh start at a new boarding school. She hopes for a new beginning but gets one hell of a ride by some bullies namely Filippa. What they don't count on is someone lurks on Alena's side and is ready to make them pay. Will Alena survive the first year at the boarding school? Who is her mysterious body guard?

I've never read the graphic novel by the same name but I read the synopsis online and it appealed to me. I was expecting horror and what I got was a long yawn fest. It was boring, drawn out, and had little to no horror in it. I don't remember any kills in this besides two. It had moments of suspense. I just wasn't that impressed. The story had a lot of potential but something just didn't translate over onto the screen. It read terrible with nice cinematography. Pass on this one.

3/10
