Amores Perros [2000]
Directed by: Alejandro González Iñárritu
Three different stories get intertwined with one fateful car crash. The first story is about a young man who finds himself knee deep in the underworld realm of dog fighting. There's gore I wish I could unsee. The director says no real dog's were harmed. It was so real. It's not for the faint of heart. The next story is my favorite of the three. It's about a vain model who has a strange twist of fate. It's poetic in all senses of the term. Then lastly there's a story about an ex hitman who has a moment of clarity. It's interesting how they are connected.
I liked for the most part the storyline. In my opinion the model one was the strongest because it deals with reality and vanity. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters except the dogs. That was partially the intention. It has a lot of themes on how humanity treats our four legged friends. It also was so gritty that it helped bring up the topic of finally putting a stop to dog fighting!!
Interesting either way. 7/10
