As if! My review on Clueless (1995)

Updated: Jul 18, 2024

Clueless [1995]

Directed by: Amy Heckerling

In true 90s fashion, Clueless follows the story of Cher. Cher is at the top of her high school's hierarchy reigning supreme as most popular. She's got it all. Her ultimate worry rests on accessorizing her latest outfit that is...until she does poorly in a debate at school. She decides to play cupid and tries to set her teacher up with someone. Hoping this will help distract her teacher and earn her the grade she thinks she deserves. Her teacher isn't the only one she hopes to play cupid on. She turns her attention to Tai the new kid. Will Cher's endeavors prove successful?

As if! This film is one of those quintessential 90s films that has carried on over the years. It's comedic, charismatic, referenced, and memorable. You root for Cher and hope she finds that there is more to life than the superficial. It's one of those classic 90s films that still carries over well. I loved this one. It's memorable and it has a great soundtrack with a bonus mini performance by Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Also, Can we take a moment to appreciate Brittany Murphy 🫶 man she truly had an energy on screen that was magnetic.

I love this movie! I remember this movie and the spin-off series, which I also loved! It's an, in my opinion, iconic staple to the 90s. Of course, there were others before it and after it that were equally as significant. This was definitely and is one of my favorite movies. It's got a fun soundtrack. The humor is still solid. I just really love this movie. I also love the lessons it teaches.

9/10
