Black Christmas (2006) Review

Black Christmas [2006]

Directed by: Glen Morgan

A group of sorority sisters are being tormented by a familiar "fable" from the past. Billy's story hangs over the house as the holidays draw near. It's around this time Billy killed his entire family. The unquenchable bloodlust that lurks under the surface of Billy has his eyes set on the girls. Knowing this story, it's obvious a jail cell won't stand between Billy and the girls. Will the story repeat itself once more?

Bloody, gory, and disturbing are my thoughts after watching this remake. It upped the stakes on gore with a sprinkle of surprise on the side. Trying to keep surprise as a remake adding some new characters and storylines it was definitely different.

Once again, the brilliant cinematography from the original was lost. Overall, I'm not the biggest fan of this remake. As a slasher and a horror movie it definitely earns it's place in each respective category. For me, from seeing the original first, all the bells and um...sugar cookies in the process fell short on me. I suppose this one was more focused on Billy and his story versus the girls. Not sure what to score this one. As a stand alone slasher it deserves an 8. As a remake it deserves a 6.

My personal opinion it deserves a 6.3./10 🤷‍♀️
