Blank Check Review

Blank Check (1994)

Directed by: Rupert Wainwright

Opportunity smiles upon Preston when a man accidentally runs over his bike. He then passes Preston a blank check and well... the rest is history! What can you expect when you hand an 11 year old a blank check? Well, thus this forms the premise of Preston Water's story.

My nephews, niece, and I watched this film a few months back. It was surprisingly not half bad but it can't hide the dated aspect of the film. The "lingo" and premise lost my interest and the kids half way through the film. We stuck to it. Not to mention there's a slight cringe factor with Preston trying to woo Shay who is precisely older than him in this film. Would I recommend it? I'm not sure. If you like cliche 90s family films that have predictability give this one a shot. It had it's moments where it was funny but I think a one time viewing is good enough for me.
