Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) Directed by: Brian Singer
"I'd sit alone and watch your light
My only friend through teenage nights
And everything I had to know
I heard it on my radio
Radio"
I can still picture so vividly. The late 80s pale yellow tiles with brown trim. The beige walls of my kitchen. I can picture the gray stereo my father had on the kitchen counter and these lyrics playing throughout our home. Throughout my childhood songs like 'Radio Ga Ga', 'We Will Rock You', 'We Are the Champions', and 'Killer Queen' would be playing throughout my home. I heard Queen long before I gathered my own opinion of them. Freddie Mercury had a unique voice and to see a film that brought us the stories of not only the band, Freddie, but the songs was nothing short of impressive. The costumes and sets were accurate to it's time period. The performances were stand out and did not fall flat. Your attention will stay in tune with every sequence. (No pun not intended, or possibly it is😉) The film moved fluidly and carried the audience's attention for it's span. I loved the small hints that segued into each songs beginning. Freddie Mercury had a beautiful voice. If you're a fan of Queen, Rock n Roll, or looking for something fresh and engaging, check it out! You won't regret it! I truly found it captivating. It brought a new perspective on the voice I heard on my radio so many years ago.
Final Score: 9.5/10
