Brahms: The Boy 2 Review

Brahms: The Boy 2 (2020)

Directed by: William Brent Bell

Jude and his mother Liza are victims of a traumatic event and together hope to find some peace. The peace, they hope to find takes them to the Heelshire Estate. Well, we have been here before and we know there is no peace to be found behind these walls. Jude stumbles across Brahms randomly one day. Thus, linking both their stories and beginning to fabricate the story in the works. Will Brahms claim this new family as victims or will they finally put to rest the mystery and questions behind the story of Brahms?

The story does kind of flow somewhat cohesively with it's previous installment. I liked that there was a similar link between the doll and Jude. I liked how we got more of a back story and origin of the doll. I also liked for the most part the cinematography. I felt like the character Joseph just came out of nowhere. They try to create his story line more towards the near end of the film. I didn't feel as connected to this story as I have previously. I didn't find it scary with the exception, of the scene that left the family traumatized in the beginning.

I found the ending pretty agitating to be honest. We got a twist in the first film and it ended in a way where it would have been sufficient. I guess this might be left intentional to start a new series on slashers or whatever is in the works. Possibly a part 3... Either way, I didn't care for this one as much. I felt the first one was more interesting. At points, the story felt far fetched. It wasn't necessarily terrible. There definitely is an audience for this one and possibly both films together. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I do prefer the first one.
