Dark Phoenix (2019) Review

Dark Phoenix [2019]

Directed by: Simon Kinberg

In a moment, everything can change. Everything you knew or could have known can change. Young Jean Grey narrowly yet miraculously escapes an accident that left her an orphan. During this turbulent time, a stranger approaches with a ray of hope and friendship. Professor Xavier offers to help her where others were frightened or dismissive. He expresses empathy and genuine concern. Emotions, they can be powerful assets and dangerous things. It's the point of Jean to decipher the truth of harnessing them and realizing who she truly is where the frame of this film is set. What is to become of Jean Grey and the X-Men?

I actually loved this! 👏 It received such horrible reviews. I'm not quite sure how close to canon it is. I've only read a few X-Men comics, her origin story, and seen the series with films. I enjoyed it. That train fight sequence 🙌 can we discuss how amazing and epic it was. Wow! The choreography was great and each sequence more epic than the last. I didn't care for the antagonists. I think that's my complaint here. They were dry and quite frankly boring. 🤷‍♀️ I liked my takeaway and how everything like a phoenix goes full circle. I loved the play on emotions. 8/10
