Frozen 2 Movie Review

Frozen 2 [2019]

Directed by: Jennifer Lee, Chris Buck

Voice Cast Credits: Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Jonathon Groff

Our history and the bonds we form can carry on to generations that follow. The Frozen cast returns with some familiar faces in this second installment. Carrying over from the first film we hear more of a back story of the sisters Anna and Elsa. Their family has secrets and those secrets may or may not carry some consequences in this installment.

Elsa is lured into an enchanted forest by a voice that seems like only she can hear. The enchanted forest has a lore to it. Those that go in don't come out! What secrets lie in the forest? Who is calling to Elsa?

The story doesn't quite stop there though. As these questions begin to get answered a true story of personal growth embarks on the sisters and their bonds are tested. As the people of Arendelle are driven out by an unforeseen force they must decide what result is best fitting for them and their people. What outcome is that exactly? I can't reveal because that would give spoilers.

My thoughts: I'll have to admit I wasn't a fan of the first one. It read more like a musical to me and for that it lost my interest. I thoroughly enjoyed Frozen 2. This also was the first film my niece saw in theaters and she loved it. As I mentioned throughout my review the idea of a bond. I actually also watched this with my sister. My sister is someone I have a close bond with. Not as aggressively close as Anna to Elsa but one I cherish. There's this innate idea to protect your family and those you love and one theme I appreciated in the film. I loved the new songs. The humor wasn't overboard. Everything read cohesively. The plot was well developed. The new characters were memorable in my opinion. Overall I really did like this one.

Final Score: 8.5/10
