The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly [1966]
Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo
Directed by: Sergio Leone
When I think of my father a handful of films come to mind. This one, is definitely one of the more prominent ones. My father watched this series when it first came out and has loved it ever since. When I asked him which of the 3 is his favorite, he said it was this one.
It looks like he's not the only one either! This film has also earned its place in the 1001 films you must watch before you die list!
My first memories of this film were sitting down on a comfy yet obnoxious green, orange, and yellow late 70s couch. My father would be in his favorite brown chair laughing and just in awe of this film. I never understood it but I thought Tuco was funny. 😂 I had so many questions for him and of course like most father's he would answer them to distract me from the more violent sequences. It wasn't until now that I caught that. 😉🤔
This film is a timeless masterpiece. With a matching soundtrack that is distinct and iconic.
The film follows three characters whose stories connect to one big score. Set in the Civil War it doesn't shy away from the brutality that war brings. Who will claim the score the Good, the bad, or well the ugly?
Seamless cinematography, rich story, well developed characters, and just enough mystery. This film is perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. This one's for you pops!
9.8/10
