Jungle (2017) Review

Jungle (2017) Directed by: Greg McLean Based on the novel of the same name and true events of: Yossi Ghinsberg Streamed on: Amazon Prime Starring: #danielradcliffe

The thrill of a new adventure is a feeling some of us can relate to. The thrill and drive of the unknown is enough to fuel our passions to discover new places and seek adventure. A feeling Yossi (Radcliffe) is fueled by. Yossi travels to La Paz, Bolivia in search for exploring the Amazon rainforest. He meets up with Marcus and his friend Kevin who will be going on this journey with him. One day, while exploring the market place he is stopped by a stranger (Karl) who continues to fuel his wanderlust by telling him he knows a place in the rainforest where it hasn't been discovered yet and an Indian tribe lives there. Now curious, Yossi convinces his friends to come with on this adventure. Skeptical they try and convince him otherwise. However, Yossi convinces them and they embark with Karl on an adventure into the Amazon rainforest. There this survival film really kicks into gear.

The tale unfolds and to avoid spoilers you'll see the tests the human mind goes through to survive and it is not a pretty one.

My thoughts: Intense, powerful, and gloomy this survival film captures real life horrors a person went through in means to make it to the end. It's a tale that's not for everyone and some visuals were disturbing. You see bitter struggles of disease and hunger. If you're easily squeamish this one might not be for you. I'm glad I watched it until the end. It was intense, mysterious, heartbreaking, and overall a true test of a man's story to live. I actually loved seeing Bolivia. I'm half Bolivian and I have never been. The stories of the marketplace is one I've heard about.

Final Score: 7.5/10 –Morgana
