Lady and the Tramp [1955]
Directors: Hamilton Luske, Wilfred Jackson, Clyde Geronimi
Based on: "Happy Dan, The Cynical Dog"; by Ward Greene
Streamed on: Disney +
Life is easy and quite comfortable for Lady who lives in the rich part of town. A warm meal, and all the affection you could ever dream of is given to her. That is until... she notices some changes brewing. When her beloved owners begin to prepare for their next chapter as parents. It's at this time she meets The Tramp. A free spirit and no strings attached pooch. Something draws her to him rather unexpectedly. Can the Lady and the Tramp see past their differences?
This is probably my favorite animated Disney film. I have loved it since I can remember. I love this one next to Cinderella. It is a bit dated and of course, some things might not sit comfortably for some people. I see it as an innocent story about love. The love that blooms for parents as they prepare to welcome their baby. The love of a pet parent to their pets. The love that in it's sincerest form connects two pups despite class and pedigree. It's symbolic. Despite the obvious differences they found each other. I think it's romantic. I think it says something about love.
9/10
