Part 1 My Review on Seasons 1-5
It's 1919 post Great War, the series follows one man's unquenchable ambitions as he rises from the ashes of his former self into the top of the streets but not limited. Truth be told, I tried to watch this two seasons ago but I knew from watching the first few minutes of the episode I would get hooked. So, for a while I waited. It seemed like now is a good a time as any to start and catch up. I was pleasantly surprised.
At points, throughout it was a bit slow moving but it picked up almost instantly. Campbell was one of the worst antagonists. His screentime was what I referred to as slow moving lol. There's a lot of memorable characters. The setting and costumes were awesome. Overall, I recommend this series. This is a great series. You kind of wonder when enough is enough? How far will Thomas go to build his empire? Who can he trust and who will make it 5 seasons?
9.5/10
Part Two My Analysis
Having returned from war brings the Shelby brothers new opportunities and a fresh mindset. They hold the power but one brother's thirst is unquenchable. His vision has no limitations or so...it seems. Who would dare to stop him? Is there any limit to his vision? He has a vision and when you think he's about to lose you'll realize he might have you fooled.
Like each season a new adversary comes forth; sometimes from the least likely sources. Everyone wants a chance at the crown and Thomas is not ready to step down. At every turn it feels a new challenge comes forth mercilessly claiming innocent lives. Love finds its way but it's like Shelby realizes freedom, true freedom comes with a cost.
That cost is in those you love the most, his enemies strive to hurt him in any way they can to claim his empire's throne. As the series unfolds you realize you "Don't mess with the Peaky ******* Blinders!"
The series so far has been articulate. Mood was prevalent and properly fitting. Settings and costumes fit perfectly. Plus, you have to love all the Nick Cave tracks perfectly fitting. Each enemy I wanted to see end more than the last. Campbell was the worst next to this one that's on the rise!
Tragedy and a hunger follow Thomas. The lives around him gain but at what price. How far will he hold the deck? I suppose we will have to wait, and see?!
