Reminiscence [2021]

Directed by: Lisa Joy

Our memories hold such power. The truth really is in the details. The ghosts of our past and comforting times have a way to create a nest we dwell in. The stories of futures to come trickle in through the light but reality remains. Where do we draw the line between truth and comfort? A man haunted by the very fabric of a memory knows deep down it holds the key. Who is this woman?

This story at it's core has so much heart and depth that it took me weeks to process it. This film is deep. I loved the overall theme and the timed perspective. Again, I loved the neo noir aesthetic bonded with the sci fi tones. ❤ I think this is one of those films you need time to digest to understand what it holds at its core. Our memories can blur our perspective but reality remains. Will the characters in this story choose the comfort of a memory or reality where progression remains.

7.9/10
