Rushmore [1998]
Directed by: Wes Anderson
Max is one ambitious and slightly quirky character. When he sets his mind on something, it's his all 💯 of the time. He formulates a facade to hide the truth. Nothing compares to his love for Rushmore until he "meets" Rosemary Cross. He hopes to win her heart. The only problem is the obvious reason why their relationship can never be. It doesn't help that his dear friend swoops her off her feet. With this news how will the truth fall on Max?
This review comes from the pages of 1001 films you need to watch before you die. Why it makes the list is obvious from the start. It's beautiful and unique cinematography is in true Wes Anderson fashion. It's meticulously and charmingly poetic from frame to frame. It's brilliant and he creates these wonderful set of characters that really challenge your perception. It rolls like a diary and you really understand his vision as it wraps up in the end.
9.8/10
