Slaughterhouse Rulez [2019]

Directed by: Crispian Mills

That first day of school is always a riddle! You never know how it's going to go. You hope that it goes by smoothly but with a boarding school by the name Slaughterhouse... err...umm... what can one expect? With a lot of secrets behind the walls and a money hungry headmaster known as The Bat invests money into a scheme [fracking] that causes some serious problems?! Yikes!!! Can the students and staff make it out of this term alive?

I was completely lost in translation watching this film. For one, I'll list the positives. Numero Uno I loved the play on Harry Potter that was my general appeal to the film. The second I loved the humor. Lastly some of the minimal gore was interesting but that's about it.

I thought this film was about a boarding school who trains assassins and they have to fend off an opposing force. I was somewhat wrong! I expected horror meets Harry Potter. It was more sci fi and confusing plot directions from left to right. I feel like I'm enrolled in Math again. 😆 I get the message is drilled in your head (pun possibly intended) by the end of the film. I believe that trailer was horribly misleading. I love sci fi don't get me wrong. The creature/monster was interesting but the plot was so confusing. If you didn't know, this film is about fracking. If you didn't know you'll know within the first 15 minutes and it will be non stop!

Frost delivers a powerful speech about how people screw mother nature. I did appreciate that. Other than that, I was honestly disappointed. I think this would have been an interesting film if it focused on horror.

I think the lesson is respect nature or it will fight back. Sorry have to side with the other critics.

4/10
