Part 1 of 3 Review Series on Suspiria
So, for #suspiria I'm doing something completely different. I'm doing a brief personal analysis on each film then my final "review" will be a comparison and contrast so to speak.
I have never seen the original 1977 Suspiria. So, before dedicating time to analyzing it and reviewing it. I decided to do something unconventional for me and watch the remake first. That way I can enjoy it as it might have been intended by the director.
In 2018's version it had the following: a dominant matriarchy, the sequence and concept of linking Suzie between one of the other dancers was interesting. We didn't really see that in the original. It's as if an invisible thread manipulated Olga I believe that's the characters name. The idea and vision was quite clear from the beginning so you knew what you were expecting. This version mostly centered deeply into rituals and the links between dancing. My thoughts will be further explained in Part 3.
