The Curse of La Llorona (2019) Review

The Curse of La Llorona [2019]

Directed by: Michael Chaves

It's 1970s Los Angeles and Anna fails to ignore the pleas of a destitute mother. She assumes from the situation and the obvious flags that negligence is in play. What she fails to see is overwhelming despair of a mother. As the story unfolds, they all find themselves deep into folklore. Is there truth to the tales of La Llorna "the weeping woman". With her grisly hands set on Anna's children can they stop her before it's too late?

I had instant appeal to this film when I first heard of it. I always found legends and folklore interesting. I'm not too familiar on the story of La Llorna since her story was never told to me. I loved the visuals, they didn't cheapen the tale. I thought a lot of jump scares were predictable. Overall, I loved the story and I thought the casting was well done. The cinematography was incredible. I really have no complaints.

8.2/10
