The Mad Monster (1942) Directed by: Sam Newfield
The wolfman has been portrayed in many ways but I have yet to see such a flat performance of him. Imagine a dim witted patsy with epic helmet hair and a growl that sounds like a constipated Gorn. Yep, that's ol' dear Petro. With a performance like this I found it hard to get invested in his character.
A manipulative "mad scientist" uses a serum mixed with wolf's blood to give us a mildly upgraded performance of Petro. Imagining praises from other colleagues on his genius new finding he believes he's going to go up. Instead he is ridiculed by his colleagues and uses naive Petro to teach them a permanent lesson. If you're mildly intrigued check it out. Trust me, if you're not you won’t regret it.
Final Score: 2.5/10 2.5 for the decent cinematography. –Morgana
