The Monster Maker (1944) Directed by: Sam Newfield The night is young and you're excited for your dear Papa's gala! Watching with so much pride, as he pours out his heart on the piano, note by note to what appears to be a packed house! Oh joy!!! Strangely you feel something unsettling but can't place your finger on it? Could it, perhaps be... a stranger can't take his eyes off you. A night meant to be joyous suddenly feels spoiled because you can't focus on your father's performance. At the end of the performance you tell your father of this situation and behold a message arrives. Who can it be from? It's that strange man! He apologizes for his disrespect and says it's due to an uncanny appearance you share with his wife who is no longer here. Figuring that's the last you'll hear from him you continue on with your life. Only to receive flowers, love notes, and etc continuously. Now, creeped out you tell your father to please send a message and tell him to stop. Of course our leading man in this tale can't control himself so he doesn't. Your father ends up putting up quite the fight to mysteriously catch a rare disease. Coincidentally, the only man who can cure him is this prize plum!? Will dear papa find the cure or will he meet a horrible fate from prize plum romeo? Check it out to see how it all ends!
My thoughts: What's to say about a leading man who is grossly desperate to make you his? Ignoring your pleas to stop. Real winner, right? More like weenie 🤣 this is a prime example on what NOT to do to become favorable. Blackmail, ransom, making your family’s life miserable because if he can't have you no one will. 😑Cinematography decent, plot was predictable, casting was solid overall not half bad.
Final Score: 5.5/10- Morgana
