The Wedding Singer [1998]
Directed by: Frank Coraci
Robbie Hart is a wedding singer in the mid 80s, who is ironically preparing for his own wedding. He's filled with joy as can be expected but what he doesn't count on is the being left at the altar. This of course, casts a dark shadow on the very idea of love. He begins a friendship with Julia. There's no denying it, chemistry is in the air. The problem is she's getting married and he's supposed to sing for her wedding. Bobbie being the sweet guy that he is sees Julia for the kindhearted person she is who is trapped in a relationship with a jerk. Can Bobbie overcome his own heartache, get the girl and save her from being Julia Guglia?
I just realized another Drew and Adam film makes the mini theme countdown. 😂 I love this one. It's one I've watched many times. It's hilarious, romantic, and caked with 80s nostalgia! Not to mention, the soundtrack is awesome! This was another film I picked from a list of films that were recommended to me by followers and friends. As the audience, we can't help but feel empathy towards Robbie and Julia. We really hope they do end up together. Julia is a sweet and her genuine kindness blinds her reality in being caught in a horrible relationship with someone who undermines her all the way. Robbie is stuck processing heartache but as his friendship with Julia begins... He starts to develop feelings for her. They both see the genuine nature they each have. You kind hope something gives and their kindness is rewarded. Even Billy Idol approves!
