Fast Times at Ridgemont High [1982]
Directed by: Amy Heckerling
The film focuses on 3 characters Stacy, Brad, and Jeff Spicoli. The rite of passage as a teenager leads you down several roads much like this film. We have Jeff who is just surfing on by at school and has to deal with his stories antagonist Mr. Hand. We have Stacy who is doing well in school but is naive to all thing's dating. She gets some pretty questionable advice from her friend Linda. Lastly, we have Brad who is a Senior who sees nothing but possibilities. He has to balance work with life in general.
This is my second watch. My first one I honestly didn't care for it. I watched it now with a new perspective. When you're going through school it can be different from your peers. Some of us start our first job in the workforce, others focus on trying to fit in, others date or try to impress the others, there's some of us who have major changes in our lives whether positive or not, then there's some of us who just live life day to day and just relax. I'm sure there's more examples as humans we vary. I think films focus so much on high school as a setting because of all the extensive variables.
I liked that idea and how this film explored that. It had great casting. I'm still not sure what I'd rate it. For now I'll go with the critics.
7/10
