Fun in Acapulco (1963)

Directed by: Richard Thorpe

Mike (Elvis) finds himself in quite the predicament! He needs to find work after getting fired from his previous job. Unsure what to do he feels lost. Who is going to help Mike? Why his new boss and friend, little Raoul! Raoul helps Mike get a new job at center stage at a local hotel when the troublesome act is quite the flake! Raoul also helps Mike find work at the same hotel as a lifeguard. While on duty he attracts the attention of one of the ladies Margarita who happens to be there with the other lifeguard on duty Moreno!! He's not okay with the new guy trying to make a move on his lady! All the while, Mike is quite the catch because now he has seemed to have attracted the attention of one of the famous lady bullfighter's! She's also not ready to leave her advances fall to Margarita. What's Mike to do in this crazy triangle? Who will he choose?

As the story continues to unfold we find out Mike also has one some or rather death defying problem. He's got to conquer his phobia of heights after a cruel twist of fate leads him scarred! Will he win the lady (which one lol) and conquer his fear? Tune in and find out!

I loved the songs! I loved the bond he has with his amigito Raoul. I think that's what sold me on the film. It was endearing how he helped him and all he really wanted was his friendship. D'awww! Ain't that cute lol

The plot was cohesive and the songs fit rather perfectly with the transitions to scenes. I think the casting was a good fit too. Overall, not half bad! I'm one of those people that enjoys his films okay. I haven't seen them all but the one's I have I have enjoyed. I know some people can disagree with me on it. 8/10
