West Side Story (1961)
Directors: Robert Wise, Jerome Robbins
Hatred reaps destruction. It blinds individuals to only see what they choose to see not what lies beneath. A story of two star crossed lovers is put to the test. When Tony a rival Jet falls hopelessly in love with Maria, the Shark's leader's sister. Will true love breakthrough? Will hatred reap more casualties tonight?
It was a beautiful and seamless story. The choreography was smooth, the song's fit in like jigsaw pieces to the score, and I'm not much for musicals but I loved it. It's deeply symbolic and poetic. It is on the list for the 1001 Films You Must Watch Before You Die rightly so. It has subtle and moving cinematography. It brings fresh perspective. One that any viewer can take away and that's to love your neighbor. It's a brilliant story and one, I like others will always carry. Beautiful. Perfect.
